Structural Assessment of Two Key Bridges

ECSL were engaged to provide bridge assessment and technical approval services by Arco in relation to two key bridge structures at the UK’s most thrilling theme part, Thorpe Park, in Surrey.

Project Overview

Both bridges were assessed in accordance with Highways England’s code of practice CS454 Assessment of Highway Underbridges, following an inspection undertaken by Arco. ECSL were responsible for scoping the structural investigation and providing the technical assurance for the inspection and assessment reports once complete.

Our Solution

The bridges consisted of a 3-span steel and concrete composite Bailey Bridge and an 8-span steel girder bridge which incorporated a large-span truss over a watercourse. Both structures were assessed for both pedestrian and vehicular loading.
